150 short-haul flights were delayed due to technical issues resulting from an IT outage.
The possibility of a cyber attack was ruled out after the outage was found to be linked to a hardware issue.

BBC - AWS Outage Causes Mass Disruption
Amazon Web Services suffers its third outage of the year with disruptions affecting thousands of users all over the world.
Multiple apps have been affected including; Prime Video, Alexa, Amazon Ring, mobile banking app Chime and robot vacuum cleaners iRobot.
There are also reports that AWS clients McDonald's, Netflix and Disney and others are having issues.

The Register - CenturyLink Outage
Major web provider CenturyLink was down for 7 hours on August 30, 2020.
As a provider to clients including Discord, Twitter, Xbox Live, PlayStation network, Amazon and many others, the outage caused massive disruption cutting off 3.5% of global internet traffic.
The cause of the outage was eventually diagnosed as a misconfiguration in one of the CenturyLink data centers.

The Guardian - Gmail and Google Drive outages
Google Drive, Gmail, Hangouts and Google Maps were down in several coutries around the world on the 13th of March 2019. Google reported that users could access the apps but were experiencing error messages, high latency and other unexpected behaviour.

TechCrunch - 4 hour outage for Apple's iCloud
On Thursday 14th March Apple's iCloud Drive, Mail, Calendar, Notes, Keychain, Reminders, iWork, Photos, News had outages between 11:00am and 3:28pm (ET). The issue came days after Facebook and Google suffered similar issues.

Bendigo Bank suffered an outage of its online banking and app on Wednesday the 13th of March 2019. Some users also noticed issues on the following Thursday morning and Saturday afternoon.

Commercial Appeal - FedEx IT outage in Memphis hub
FedEx experienced a temporary IT outage which affected aircraft launch operations overnight. They described the knock-on as "substantial disruptions" but explained that they "implemented contingency plans to minimize the impact".

HSBC suffered downtime on its online banking portal on the 27th of February 2017 . The outage was estimated to have affected 68% of customers.

Digital Health - Failure of core network at Northumbria downs IT systems
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s core network routing failed, causing a trust-wide IT outage between 17 to 19 February. The trust had to revert to paper and pen after a network fault took out its clinical and administration systems for two days.
Following the fault, the trust used social media to say that waiting times in A&E would be longer until the IT problem was resolved.
